Start at the beginning …

After reading the “Fashion and Sustainability” article by Walker, I learned that being environmentally conscious does not just apply to the interior design world, but readily applies to the fashion industry as well. Because there’s a longer and much more detailed process to the whole creativity process, there’s often a larger quantity of waste due to the rapid material selection as well as design process finalization. Walker said that “when approached the right way, fashion in design can prove a valuable ally in the evolution…” and I agree with this wholeheartedly because in order to find the solution to a complex problem, it is best to start at the beginning to find a solution that fits. Knowing what I now know, I hope to help reduce our carbon footprint on the earth and leave something for our future generations. If we all do our part (no matter how small) and continue to learn, as individuals, how we can make things we take for granted – like electricity – be a source available for others in the future.
