11th Hour

In lecture this week we watched the documentary called the 11th hour. It talked about the state of the natural environment and the current conditions of the world we live in. It discussed the different natural issues such as deforestation, global warming, etc. I thought it was interesting that 99.99% of all species are extinct today. That just goes to show how powerful the world really is, and how we really aren’t leading it like the human race likes to think. The film also talked about how humans eventually will do the right thing, but only when they have exhausted all other options. I find this to be so true, in the fact that yes we are starting to make changes to make the earth more sustainable, but only because if we don’t the human race will become extinct and the world as we know it will no longer exist. Overall, I found the film to be very informative, and I feel that it should be shown in more schools. The more people know about a specific subject, the more likely they are to do good and to make the right choices. This makes me think of the quote by Maya Angelou, that “when people know better, they do better”. The more people that know about these pressing issues shown in the film, the more likely they will be to try and find ways to solve them.
