We’re gonna be mermaids!

The video we watched and the excerpt we read certainly gave the class new fuel for our post apocalyptic scenario. The idea that if we keep going the way we are we’ll be left with this barren wasteland of a planet.

Despite that gravity of situation, I do believe that people ought to have a little more faith in their species and our ability to work past problems. I’m not saying that we don’t need to do something. It just seems like the general outlook when people learn about things like this, is that we’re doomed and we can’t do anything about it. But I know we will do something about it. Hopefully sooner rather than later, but sometime laziness and procrastination wins over the pressing need to do something. Homework; saving the planet: it’s all the same.

And these same people always seem to be in the same conclusion that humans will die out, and become extinct. The question there, of course, is how do you define us dying out. There will likely be a point where we will evolve to a point that we are no longer “human,” but something else entirely. Did we “die out” in that case? I mean, obviously, we’re going to become mermaids. Obviously.
