On day one of this class, sustainability to me was recycling and reusing products. Since then, we have learned about much more to being sustainable in our majors. Most statistics we have read about come as a surprise to me. We really have no idea about the damage we are doing. I now think about sustainability in my day-to-day life.
I really enjoyed the subject of biomimicry. An example from class would be how scientist used the shark’s scales for inspiration for swimwear. It made such a difference in speed that the Olympics had to ban it. That was interesting to me. During the LOLA show I was so intrigued by how creative people are with biomimicry.
I also enjoy hearing about the missions that are currently on going. It can be a disappointing subject sometimes, but hearing the Ted Talks on the projects people are participating in are making a difference.
