It is sad to think that last Thursday was our last day of Wicked Problems of industrial Practice. This class has definitely changed my perspective on so many issues throughout our world that I had no clue about before. My major takeaway was that most of the human population is living on this earth without knowing what is actually going outside their own lives. I for one, realized that there is so much happening around us that is hurting our earth and us humans are not doing very much to help. We are so worried about our day-to-day lives that we forget to take care of the atmosphere around us. I know there are people who have ideas and solutions out there that can help sustain the earth but why are they not taking action? This question has been on my mind for a while but then I realized that if they did take action, there is a chance that those solutions could harm our planet even more. So that puts us in a difficult situation. We have to be able to find ways to help our planet earth and when I say “we” I mean everyone! This class was an eye opener and I definitely will not take the world for granted anymore. I feel like I left the class more informed and more cautious about my surroundings and I am thankful that I got the chance to take this class and learn things I had no clue about before.
In all honesty though, I do feel a bit worried for our future and what will become of it. Will we even have future is the real question? I want to be able to live throughout my future and my kids’ future in a world where the problems happening now are decreasing or have been solved. I want to be able to live in a problem free world but even I know that is asking for too much. By taking this class, I now know that in order to help sustain the earth, we need to spread awareness and show others what we are doing to our planet and what we need to do to stop it. I for one, will do as much as I can to help, even though I am just one person, anything to help makes a difference. I want to thank Dr. Armstrong for teaching us about our world and what is happening to it, making us aware of what we need to do and how we can help.
Another thing I like about this class was the meditation practices we did throughout each week of class. Just from these meditations, I learned to live in the moment and breathe and by doing these exercises, you will feel much calmer and stress free. I will definitely be mediating from now on.
