Signing up for this course I had no idea what it was going to be about. The only thing that I had been told was that we do yoga. Knowing this I was a little skeptical but still excited. Walking in and seeing the giant bean bag chairs I got super excited and my enjoyment for the class just kept growing form there. On the first day we were taught what a Wicked problem was. This opened my eyes to a whole new look on the world. Learning about sustainable practices helped me start thinking about the little things I do everyday can cause big problems in the future. Just because we aren’t seeing a problem doesn’t mean there isn’t one. This was a big take away for me. I have now started too look at the little things I can be doing to help change the future. I also realized that just because I know about sustainability now doesn’t mean everyone does. Before coming to this class sustainability was just a word that I heard people say now I want to share it with people so its not just a word to them.
Another big take away would be mindful practice. For me this one was very hard to do. I have a difficult time focusing in on one thing for a long period of time. The easiest time for me doing mindful practice would have to of been listening to music and focusing in on it. I was able to start using this meditation to help calm my nerves through out the semester.
I have truly enjoyed this class and am interested in exploring the other sustainable classes that will be offered.
