This week I learned more about Mindfulness and about my environment and how to better care and connect with our Earth. After reading about the Easter Islands and what happened to the people that inhabited the islands and after taking a look at my carbon footprint, I have a better understanding about taking care of our earth and her resources. I did not fully realize how greatly my carbon footprint could impact the earth. It is so very important to take care of our plant and what it has to offer us.
After reading the assignment about Mindfulness, I started looking at my everyday life differently. Instead of being constantly worried about my hectic schedule, and about what was happening around me, I instead found a quiet place for myself and sat down and closed my eyes and breathed. I focused more on what was going on within myself instead of focusing on the hustle and bustle of the world around me.
I found that meditation and mindfulness go hand in hand, and have helped me become more aware my body, my mind, and my overall health. After reading and taking notes of mindfulness, I have now made it my goal to focus on me and connecting with the Earth and not with my phone or my social media platforms.
It is so easy to act like we are not leaving such a bug footprint behind us, but in actuality, we are causing more and more harm to our planet every day. After looking at my carbon footprint, I realized how much waste I put out into the Earth and how much water I use on a daily basis. I now see ways that I, myself, can improve the way I live my everyday life and reduce my carbon footprint and help protect the planet.
