I think mindfulness is important because we if we want to stay mentally healthy we have to set aside to time to sit and reflect. Mindfulness is what keeps us at peace with ourselves and the world around us. The best part from Marc Cohen’s TED talk was the part when explained illness and wellness. When you’re ill it’s about I but when you’re well its about we. The mindfulness and sustainability reading was eyeopening. When it explained how mediation results in empathy and empathy leads to mindfulness. If we want to be sustainable it requires all of those things working together. In my wicked problem I’m learning that the water pollution is effecting everyone and everything: plant life, animal life, and human life. The western values reading was very informational. The fact that stood out most to  me was how many new automobiles we had boughten annually. It was such an absurd number and it just but into perspective how unnecessary things like that can be. The TED talk from Leyla has been on my mind a lot lately. Its made me more conscious of the food I throw away or where how I dispose of it. It also had me thinking about the true life span of everything else I’ve been tossing out. I completely believe the biophilia theory!  I think you can see it all over the world no matter age, race, or gender. I can’t think of a single person who doesn’t love animals, or watching the sunset on the beach, or the delicious foods our planet provides. I believe that every human being is in love with some part of nature.
