Could the World be Ending?

Our Earth is a beautiful planet. It is filled with all the resources we need to live in a sustainable life. Although this may be true, the earth is only filled with so much resources to use. Just like Easter Island we too could potentially lose the earth. The earth is only progressively getting worse. Humans use up all the good resources and do not care what consequences come out of it. We are nothing but pests living on this beautiful creation, destroying everything in sight just to please our greedy needs. Because of our recklessness, Earth has had many life changing factors such as global warming, deforestation, pollution, etc. Could the world be ending?

Based on Christianity, the Bible mentions the end times on Earth. In 2 Timothy 3:1-17 it clearly states, “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.” It is obvious that the world has always suffered from this, but the numbers only increase greatly day by day. Today we have many uprisings causing havoc on Earth, these all correspond to the verse. Is this the start of something bigger than we have ever imagined?

Humans have used the resources we have on Earth in order to create a “bigger” or “better” life. Although we have gained great amounts of knowledge doing so, we have failed to take into consideration what it would do to our planet. Earth is overpopulated much like on Easter Island. Soon enough, we will have used up all our resources turning Earth into something inhabitable for human kind. Global Warming will take over if this is not slowed down. The environment keeps changing for the worse. Luke 21:11 states, “There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.” We have had too much happen for this to just be a coincidence.

Through all of these happenings, the Earth is still standing strong, but what is the future going to look like? Do we even have much of a future? These questions are unclear even to those who believe in the Bible. No one can be sure what the future holds, but hopefully as time goes by, we are able to come up with new ways to build the economy without destroying it at the same time. Although I have my theory on this topic, it does not make me correct and I do not claim to be a prophecy. Personally, I do not see the world growing into a better place anytime soon. We have created too many problems for far too long. Humans have turned the Earth into a dark, greedy, carbon dioxide filled trap with no escape but through death.
